Project SARIs – "Not Girls but Not Yet Women"

"All I need is time a moment that is mine while I'm in between"

Sanitation at Rural Indian Schools

Ladies circle International Service Project 2007-2009

Working alongside Ladies CIRCLE India to Build 100 Toilet Blocks at Indian Schools enabling girls to remain in Education

For every Toilet Block we build we'll add another roll!!

How does the project work?

  • Ladies Circle will work internationally to support the project for the next 2 years.

  • GB&I will run the project working 'side by side' with Ladies Circle India, who will help manage the project with the working parties.

  • There will be no funds lost to administration – every penny goes into bricks, mortar and labour.

  • Materials and labour will be sourced locally in India.

Meet Gabby the Bear...

She became a member of LC GB&I whilst at 30,000 feet flying Easyjet Tallinn to Stanstead. Gabby was won on the aeroplane lottery and through the competition Easyjet offers to those that own the bear prizes can be won for the most travelled bear.

So, off we started in our planning of Gabby’s travels. Photographs were taken for her passport, she was given a ‘What A Feeling’ pin and introduced to all the GB& I circlers on the plane.

Up until 30th September – we are asking you to guess for a £1 how many air miles you think Gabby will travel this year.
This money will go towards the ISP project. After we have planned Gabby’s extensive travel diary, we will then place this on the web page for all to see. There may be some gaps and we hope that at that point you may contact us and offer to take Gabby on your travels.

Mandy, has nominated herself as Diary Lady and will be putting together a travel pack for anyone who takes Gabby across seas.

Why are we doing this?

Our intention is to create some PR with Easyjet. These will be approached with our idea and hopefully articles relating to Gabby’s Circle exploits will be published in their monthly magazine, which is on board many an aircraft.

Secondly, we are hoping that Easyjet may match each air mile Gabby has travelled with a ‘penny’, taking the pun ‘spend a penny’ to the extreme. This money will be donated to the ISP project.

So far, the diary we are creating is up to the LCI conference in Aberdeen 2008.

Gabby, landed on Sunday lunchtime at Stanstead airport and left, Sunday teatime to travel to Spain and Ibiza (without her passport – scandalous)!

Gabby will be present at the Council Meeting and at the Presidents Ball.

This idea was generated by several Circlers and already £14 has been raised through guessing the total air miles she may travel during her year.

If you would like to donate £1 and guess the total air miles then please email [email protected] with your guess and £1 pledge to be posted or sent via your Area Chairman to the National Council Meeting.

It is fun, girls – so love and enjoy our new cuddly friend Gabby!
