LATEST
NEWS FROM THE CMLO
Ladies
Circle & Race For Life
The
Race series is now over and what a great time we all had, whether co-ordinating
race volunteers, taking part or just helping out. We deserve all the plaudits
we get. I hope to sort out in my next meeting with the CRUK Race for Life
Co-ordinator the problems that occurred. Here’s to next year.

UNICEF
& Ladies Circle,
working together to protect
mothers and new-born babies
from Tetanus.

Every
day, 630 mothers and babies, around the world, die from maternal and
neo-natal tetanus. This campaign has been devised to raise
monies for two issues. The first is to raise monies for the
vaccine, which costs £1, this is something we take for granted
in the UK with our national immunisation programme. The
second is for a safe birthing kit again something we take for granted
here. This costs £1 also and consists of a blade to cut the
cord, some string to tie the cord, soap, a plastic bag and a floor
cover. |
These
are basic items that can save lives. There are two leaflets
available, one for circlers to use, another for them to distribute.
Each circle was supplied with a quantity of each of these leaflets
through their Area Chairman. If you have not seen them or require
more copies then please contact Headquarters.
FUNDRAISING

something you'd never thought of.
A document listing some fundraising ideas has been collated and by clicking
on the buttons below you can download it in Word, rtf or pdf format.
If you have some ideas other than those listed, please let me know.
If
you would like to appear on the website, send details of your fundraising

CURRENT
CHARITY APPEALS AND CAMPAIGNS
You
will no doubt be aware that HQ Office is regularly contacted by national
charities who are looking to Circle to support their fundraising. Its
impossible to publicise all of them, but under this section, you will
find a selection of appeals that stand out. Keep an eye on this section,
if you want to be kept up to date with what's happening.
Please
visit the Round Table site www.roundtable.org.uk
and look at their charity appeals and events, many of which may be of
interest to you, especially the RTCW and Whizz-Kids charities. Hopefully
we can work together with Table to enhance the fundraising.

This
is a national charity which helps to relieve the loneliness and
isolation so often felt by very elderly people living alone.
There are 2 ways to help: Firstly,
as car drivers, one Sunday per month, collect the same elderly person
to take them to a tea party, as hosts, 1 or 2 Sundays a year, AND
Secondly, provide a tea-party lasting
between 2-3 hours, for about 12 elderly guests and their drivers.
