Forward Planning Proves Productive for Stourbridge!

A request to increase membership has been taken very seriously by Circlers in Stourbridge.

They have been very ‘productive’ in the last few months and have celebrated the births of three babies in the past three months.

Stourbridge Chairman Jules said ‘We are so very proud, it’s the next generation, but the rest of us hope it’s not catching!’

Kate has had a beautiful baby girl, Constance, whilst Karen and Becky have had boys, Nathaniel and Jack – clearly working side by side with Table to help increase their membership!

So cute!

Woodhall Spa and District Ladies Circle gave a great farewell to two of its well loved members.

Past Area Chairmen Libby Reynolds and Katherine Hartoch were treated to a medieval night.

Supper was served on platters without cutlery and the mead was rather good!

The Jester entertained with levitation tricks and even some sword juggling with Libby nearby!

Woodhall Circle would like to thank everyone who came along and enjoyed 'Circling Medieval Style'

On Yer Bike!

Angela “which way now? RichardsonI was looking forward to our next Circle meeting – a shopping evening at Sharon’s house - as I had not been able to make the last couple of meetings and was eagerly anticipating a good old catch up with the girls. So when the email dropped into my inbox I was expecting to see address details and start time.

“Our next meeting is a cycle ride along the Trent...” Whoa! Brakes on a minute and back up! Cycle ride? Where’s my shopping evening gone?? This is what happens when you miss a meeting! It turned out that the shopping evening couldn’t go ahead so a last minute replacement was needed, hence the bike ride.

OK, shock over with, down to the reality of an evening cycling along the canal. On the plus side, it was a dry evening and not too cold; and if I could have looked around rather than concentrated on staying upright on a two wheeled mode of transport, I could have told you that the scenery was lovely; and the goal at the end was a meal in a pub.

On the negative side – I don’t have a bike! Slight problem I thought, and maybe even enough to get me out of it but no, Angela had a bike I could borrow. Thanks for that Angela! I don’t “do” fitness either so hopefully this was going to be a meander through the countryside and not a flat out sprint. Hmm, think again...

Please can you take the time to read a recent communication from Cait Allen, CEO of Round Table and give them your views.

Thanks
Jacqui

Dear All

We have launched our consultation on what Round Table should be like in the future. As members of the Round Table Family, we really value your thoughts. Please can you take five mins (or less) to complete a short multiple choice questionnaire online?

The link is www.roundtable.co.uk/haveyoursay

And it would be fabulous if you can send it to everyone you know and ask them to do it too. Colleagues, family, friends, etc If you could do an email to all your members and put it on your Facebook, Twitter etc, we would be even more grateful.

Thanks so much in anticipation. We really want as many people as possible to give us their views.

Cait Allen

Lichfield Ladies Save the Day

Susan Davies (LLC Vice Chairman) Gaynor Webb (LLC Chairman) Adrian Hope (Immediate past Chairman) Julian Webb (LRT Chairman) Dave Kershaw (Past Chairman), Sue Kershaw (LLC Publicity) Craig Davies (LRT Treasurer) Tracy Guest (LLC Secretary)Lichfield Ladies Circle & Lichfield Round Table's team bonding event at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham nearly ended in disaster.

On an adrenalin-filled run down the White Water Rafting Course their raft became stuck in an eddy catapulting the Lichfield Round Table Treasurer, Craig Davies, into the drink.

If it wasn't for Ladies Circle's Chairman and resident karate black belt, Gaynor Webb, he would have been lost to the river Trent.

Gaynor grasped Craig Davies's life jacket and hauled him back into the raft in one swift move. The shocked Treasurer words were “You just saved my life!”

After the event Gaynor was asked how she had reacted so swiftly and explained “I have been studying for my black belt for a few years and a key factor is speed and reaction. When I saw Craig in the water, I knew instantly that I had to drag him to safety.”

The bond between the two clubs has certainly become stronger after this life saving event.
