A new website and an increase in membership enquiries encourages Winchester Circle to share the secret of their success. Winchester Ladies Circle is delighted to announce the launch of its eagerly-anticipated website, www.winchestercircle.org.uk . Retiring member Sunita Martin has long been associated with media and publicity for Winchester Circle and it was her wish to create the website as a leaving gift. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite ready for April’s AGM but at long last, it is LIVE on the internet! "The hardest part was finding a website package that was simple enough for a novice like me to handle and one that was not too expensive for Circle to maintain." said Sunita. "I took a long time to do my research, even contacting other Circles who already had websites for their suggestions and input. Finally I settled on a website-in-a-box called Mr Site and bought the Beginner Pack. It cost just under £20 including a year’s web-hosting, has loads of designs and choices, and I started creating the pages almost immediately!" Circles who are interested in setting up their own websites are very welcome to contact Sunita through the website or by email at This eMail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and she will be more than happy to share her experience. "I really thought it would be terribly complicated, but it was so much simpler than I had expected," says Sunita, "We’ve put a link to Mr Site on our Contact page – anyone who decides to buy a package gets a discount if they click through our site, and we get a small commission which will go to our charities…. everyone wins!" If you are still unsure about having a website, do at least consider a Facebook group. Winchester’s Chairman - Jo Woodland - created the group soon after she took up her role and the site has been a great success because of the friendly, welcoming feel, and the ease of sharing news, information and photos. "Do get your events into your local newspaper and on your Facebook page" adds Jo. "We regularly have our press releases published in the Hampshire Chronicle and the Daily Echo, and all the publicity has paid off. We’ve had membership enquiries, offers from potential speakers and perhaps the most unexpected and exciting offer was from BBC Radio Solent! Having heard about us, they invited us on to the Charlie Crocker Show on 6th August between 1p.m. and 3p.m. for a live chat about Circle, what we are about, and also to talk about current news stories with other guests on the show that day." Please visit our site and tell us what you think. The more visits we get, the sooner we’ll start climbing up those Google search pages!! It will take 6 weeks or so to find us on a search engine so for the moment, you do have to type our address on your http address bar. In Fun and Friendship from Winchester Ladies Circle! |
