Spooky St Albans

There was some ghostly goings on in St Albans recently when local residents reported seeing witches, devils and even a giant pumpkin wandering the streets. Yet, in true Circle style the St Albans ladies just had to go one step too far. With Halloween being around the corner they not only decided to go on a ghost walk around the City, but they also decided to make it fancy dress and raise £100 for their charity too.

Ghost Walk

It was a full house with 17 members, 3 prospectives and National Membership Officer, Karen Sprod searching for all of St Albans infamous ghosts. Their tour guides took them on a journey through the darkest places and narrowest streets with many tales of woe along the way. Their devilish journey ended at The White Hart, where a glass of mulled wine was eagerly awaiting the ladies to warm up the old bones.

A number of ghostly sightings have been reported at The White Hart including the little girl who plays around the Hotel after she died in a fire in the building. Or the lady who died when her horse drawn carriage pulled in to the archway of the building, and she didn’t duck in time and had her neck broken. It was no surprise that the brave ladies dared not go alone on their visits to the hotel's little girls room.

Pumpkin!

Unfortunately on the night that the St Albans Circlers were out, the ghosts dared not to spook. But, with all the witches, devils and pirates within the group it isn’t a surprise that the ghosts were scared off. A glimpse of the giant pumpkin would have certainly warned off any headless horsemen!

Next on the agenda for the St Albans girls is a Burlesque class, which is not reported to be fancy dress...but you just never know what these girls will do next!
