Hagley & District 720 - 5th and final Pop Quiz |
The girls put on a sell out event this year for the 5th and final Hagley Pop Quiz.
Final because Hagley has decided to hang up it’s hat (although some of the girls will continue into the new Stourbridge & District Circle!!).
A hot supper was provided by the kitchen crew, the event was co coordinated from the front by Jeanette and of course the quiz was hosted by Jeanette’s husband, Steve.
As this event has become so popular there were a number of repeat attendees in the audience to include Sam Cowley (Imm Past It Area 27 Chair) and Helen Halstead (Imm Past It National Councillor & National Vice President nominee).
Just under £1000 was raised from the ticket prices, a general raffle, the raffle of a brand new electric guitar and the auction of two Paul Weller tickets and a brand new limited edition Top of the Pops book.
Another great evening girls, you will be sadly missed.

Falkirk Ladies Circle |
It was great to present a cheque on behalf of Falkirk Ladies Circle, to Bob Blewitt, Fundraising manager of Strathcarron Hospice (our local hospice).
£2400 was raised from a Charity fashion Show featuring ladies and childrens clothes.
Our children modelled beautifully!

Zebedee Council (the sequel) |
It's February time again, and the National Councillors all gather at the Ramada Jarvis for a spot of map orienteering! Circlers from around the country congregated to have yet more fun by colouring in maps and not going over the lines. A great Council meeting was held on Saturday 24th February, lively debate and cheeky banter. Here are a few pictures that captured Friday's fun, thanks to Vicky Perry (Area 27 Chairman) for being the official Circle Photographer! |

Hucknall goes to Prague! |
|
Five of us spent a very hectic weekend in Prague, and had a wonderful time in our thermals!
We stayed right on Wenceslas Square, bang in the middle of all the action. The city is really as beautiful as expected, especially in winter as there are less tourists.
We walked for miles and miles visiting both the castle, and the jewish quarter (where there was a ghetto, and the graveyard has 7 layers of graves, so all the headstones look as if they might fall down at any time).
Although cold the weather was fabulous, and the people very friendly, speaking german and english too. |
|
We managed to at least say please and thank you in Czech, which was well appreciated. The food was great, and we ate a lot of dumplings, goulash, duck and calamari! I've attached a pic of me in the foyer of the sex machine museum. As the other girls chickened out of actually going in, I thought I'd better get photographic evidence that I was at least in the foyer. Aren't I brave?

Middlesborough LC... |
...have been very busy this year recruiting members - they have simply TREBLED in size.
Not only that their funds are healthy due to lots of fundraising for lung and breast cancer.
Everyone has been so helpful and friendly - our Area Chairman Sue Umpleby (Area 1) has been a great support and inspiration to us all!

Le Meridien Hotel, London... |
...was the setting for the annual CRUK Award ceremony, which Michelle & Kayla attended on behalf of NALC. It was a great afternoon, emotional as thanks were given to all those that had supported the Race for Life events throughout 2006 and survivors of Cancer were presented with special awards. Gloria Hunniford, patron to CRUK presented awards and announced their total funds raised last year as
£53 million!
NALC was dutifully thanked by the Race for Life organisers, who praised Circlers for their commitment and hard work they all put into the races throughout GB & I last year.
We couldn't come away without stealing a photo opportunity with Gloria herself, (who is smaller than Michelle). The flower arrangements were presented to us by Kat Nugent, CRUK National Events Manager. |

Bromsgrove Reward for Membership |
I was very proud to be attending Bromsgrove meeting last week, it was personally very exciting as they have 7 new members and this gave me the opportunity to present Suzanne Green with not just the bronze pin but with a silver pin as well for her personal effort in inducting so many new members into Bromsgrove Ladies Circle. Susan on receiving the pin said that she would like to thank Shirley Web for all her support.
I am hoping that the Reward Pins that I am piloting this year will give our members the incentive to find new members for our fantastic organisation.
The bronze for 3 new members
The silver for 5 new members
The Gold for 10 new members
It was a lovely evening with lots of lively discussion between the new and existing members to help move Bromsgrove forward for the better, it was only sad to be saying goodbye to Carmel Woodall who was moving to Cyprus that following Saturday. Area 4 would like to wish her good luck.
Area 4 would also like to say good luck and thank you for her time spent over here with Bromsgrove to Pernilla Engatron who is moving back to her Circle in Sweden and February.
