The Story of Henry VIII's Flagship

The raising of King Henry VIII's famous Tudor warship the Mary Rose in 1982, was watched by an estimated 60 million people worldwide, and since that time, a dedicated team of voluntary presenters nationwide have raised over £200,000 towards the ongoing conversation cost of the hull and unrivalled collection of Tudor artefacts. Presenters are available to talk about the fascinating story of the Mary Rose, her history, discovery, excavation and raising and the ongoing challenge of preserving this unique time capsule of Tudor history, which is now on display in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. A small charge is made for the presentation and is donated to The Mary Rose Trust. The Decoupage Story By Alice Ann Hutchinson

Alice Ann takes her audience not only on a trip around the world from China and Japan to Central Americal, across Europe, italy, France, Germany and many more before returning to England - but also back in time some 2000 years ago. A very memorable talk with many lively decoupaged visual aids in differing styles from each country - with a pinch of humour for good measure!

The Orange Tree

Tailor Made Wine Tasting with a French Expert

French wine expert Olivier Brizard offers a range of tastings tailored to your requirements. To add a note of fun, Olivier uses a game called Le Nez du Vin. Olivier studied at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, is wine writer for two Yorkshire based publications and makes regular media appearances, most recently on BBC Good Food Live. Crafty Mums is based in Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire, and has offered hobby/craft supplies and gifts for the past 6 years from their retail outlet.
“Hands on” workshops have played an important role in the company’s growth, offering a chance to learn a new skill or adopt a new hobby. The following are offered to your group on a demonstration only basis for a 1-1½ hour duration:

Gift wrapping, painting onto acetate, make your own greeting cards - an introduction, paint and decorate a terracotta pot, rubber stamping, embossing, traditional Christmas garlands, handmade papers and their properties in card making.

A basic fee of £20 will be charged for up to 20 people, including travel up to a 15 mile radius of Ashby (50p per mile over that distance). If you require a more “hands on” approach for your colleagues, additional material costs can be negotiated to suit your budget.
