THURSDAY 27th AUGUST 2009 As we stepped out of our Hotel onto the streets of Bangalore, the locals could not believe their eyes. I’m sure they had never witnessed a scene with so many females from different countries and cultures, parading united together, each in their own national dress. Arriving at the Gayatri Vihar Palace grounds, we were welcomed by our Indian hosts. Flowers were placed around our wrists and bead necklaces over our heads. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers as we sipped our welcome drinks and started enjoying the festivities... A special ceremony was taking place this evening. Seven International Ladies Circle members along with their lovely husbands were going to renew their wedding vows. The couples were all dressed in traditional Indian wedding attire and they looked amazing. The scene was stunning. It was nonstop music, food, drinks, and dancing. Vendors with traditional stalls lined the pavilion. We had our fortunes told, henna tattoos, key rings made and lots of other fun stuff. Finally it was time to leave and with our stomach’s bursting with over-indulgence, we waved goodbye to our fabulous hosts and congratulated them on such a thrilling evening of entertainment. What a wonderful start to the LCI Bangalore. Louise Nellen Beverley Ladies Circle Area 37 chairman.
