LCI GALA DINNERTamarind Tree, Bangalore, IndiaThe whole experience of the India conference was out of this world. I thought how could it carry on, but it did “The Gala Dinner”. The bus journey was a bit of an ordeal taking over two hours, dressed in all our evening finery. One minute the air conditioning was on, the next minute in a typical Indian way it wasn’t. We were all a little hot and flustered when we arrived. The journey was worth the wait and the defective air conditioning, for once we entered The Tamarind Tree we were greeted with fairy lights draped from trees and a welcome drink. The table plan was enormous which reflected the number of people present, at over 800 I was informed. The tables were arranged with 12 people of differencing Nationalities. The programme was a full event of food and culture. The food comprised of a range of foods from different cultures, with the entertainment being typically Indian, “Bollywood Style”. After the food and the entertainment came the purpose of the gala, the handing over of the reigns from the existing President Seetha Venkatesh to the newly appointed President, Kjersti Irgens of Norway. The whole event encompassed the international appeal of LCI and was memorable in every way. I feel sure that everyone else who was present would feel the same way.
