Bushey Circle’s Chris Wright signed up for the BBC ‘Trash for Cash’ program in order to raise more money for the international SARIs project. The filming culminated in an afternoon sale of her ‘Trash’ and she was joined by other Circlers who were hoping to grab a bargain and have a great afternoon out with friends. Project co-ordinator Chris spent an amazing two years fundraising and working with LC India in order to build toilet blocks for young women attending Indian schools. Her dedication was amazing – including completing the London Marathon to raise those much needed funds. Chris said ‘Many schools in India are built without toilet facilities and as girls grow up and mature this becomes more and more of a problem to them. 50% of girls who drop out of school do so around the age of 10-12. This is the point at which they reach puberty and require an amount of privacy. Some children go home and don’t return for the remainder of the day or develop stomach-aches and other problems due to the lack of facilities.’ Although the project is now officially closed the money will be sent via Round Table.
