We Circlers of Colne Valley are well known for our eating and drinking for charity and on Thursday 17th September there was no exception!
We hosted a Pampered Chef evening at our very friendly local The Wheel Inn in Golcar. Having been blagged into hosting a party by a friend Sara, who'd just started to do Pampered Chef, I decided that it would make a good social/fundraiser event. Sara demonstrated her cooking skills and made mini ham and cheese puffs, which we sampled purely just to be polite! Then came the twist, to make sure we'd all been paying attention she then got two unwitting guests to do a "Ready Steady Cook" of the same recipe and we had to vote on the winners performance on following the recipe, cooking skills and a taste test with our red tomatoes and green peppers! Hon President Lynn Dare and daughter Lara We charged £2.50 per ticket to cover ingredients and nibbles and also sold wine at £1 per glass and did a raffle, in total we raised just over £125 which is to be split between two local pre-schools to buy books for their reading corners! All in all, a fun night and raising money for two good causes.
