On a very rainy Saturday morning, four intrepid circlers (from Alsager Ladies Circle) wove their way to Strangeways prison in Manchester to take part in Macmillan's Great Escape fundraiser.

Dressed as nuns (well, it has to be done doesn't it??) we were handcuffed in pairs and put on a blacked out coach, all set for an unknown destination in the north west an hour or so away. Our challenge: to get back to the 'safehaven' at Tiger Tiger in Manchester with no money, no mobile phones and no hitch-hiking.

Having confidently predicted that we would be dropped off in Blackpool we were slightly anxious to find that we were actually in Skipton, and yes it was still raining!

Despite some seriously lacking geographical skills we 'blagged' our way onto a couple of trains, nearly joined a stag night on the way to Leeds, and even got a free cup of British Rail tea!

We arrived at the Printworks in Manchester in the sunshine, and though we weren't first back we hadn't done at all badly - well certainly not for four slightly dubious nuns with fluorescent tights!!

We raised over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support so many thanks to all who sponsored us!
